What We Are Not
Clarity is essential. To understand Liverpool International, it is just as important to know what we are not as what we are.
Clear Distinctions
Liverpool International is frequently confused with other organisations. Here we clarify our distinct identity.
Not a Government Body
Liverpool International is not affiliated with, funded by, or accountable to any local, regional, or national government. We are entirely independent and receive no public funding.
Not a Political Organisation
We do not support, oppose, or affiliate with any political party, campaign, or candidate. Our network is open to people of all political persuasions, and we do not engage in political advocacy.
Not a Football Club
Despite sharing the city's name, Liverpool International has no connection to Liverpool FC, Everton FC, or any other sporting organisation. We celebrate Liverpool's sporting heritage but are not a fan club or supporters' group.
Not a Tourism Board
While we promote awareness of Liverpool's history and achievements, we are not a tourism promotion agency. We do not compete with or replicate the work of Visit Liverpool or Marketing Liverpool.
Not a Chamber of Commerce
Although we facilitate business connections, we are not a chamber of commerce or trade association. We do not lobby on behalf of specific industries or commercial interests.
Not an Alumni Network
We are not affiliated with any university, school, or educational institution. While we welcome alumni of Liverpool institutions, membership is based on broader criteria than educational background.
What We Are
In contrast, here is what Liverpool International stands for.
- An independent network connecting people with genuine Liverpool connections worldwide
- A not-for-profit organisation with commercial purpose
- A platform for authentic engagement, not promotional tourism
- Committed to factual accuracy and historical honesty
- Neutral on political and religious matters
- Focused on creating tangible economic and cultural value
Why This Matters
Our clarity of identity serves important purposes.
Independence
Our independence ensures we can speak honestly about Liverpool's history, including difficult topics, without pressure from funders or stakeholders.
Credibility
By being clear about what we are not, we establish credibility. Members and partners know exactly what they are engaging with.
Focus
Clarity about our identity allows us to focus on our core mission without being distracted by activities outside our remit.
Understand Our Mission
Now that you know what we are not, learn more about what we are and how you can be part of it.
